The pet surgery process can be broken down into three stages: pre-surgery, surgery and recovery.
Pre-surgery
Bring your pet in early and kiss them goodbye before our cuddly nurses settle them in. A few hours before surgery, we’ll do a pre-anaesthetic exam and sedate them. Intravenous fluids are used in all anaesthetics to support the blood pressure, which makes the anaesthetic safer and allows for a smoother, faster recovery
Surgery
General anaesthesia will be administered by our expert surgeon. The surgery will be performed with the assistance of our team of experienced nursing staff. Blood pressure, breathing rate and blood oxygen levels are monitored throughout. Once the surgery is complete, your pet will be allowed to rest for recovery.
Recovery
We continue to monitor your pet during the recovery stage. They’ll be cleaned, dried and settled in with a warm blanket and a snuggle buddy.
Recover times can vary depending on the severity of the surgery. Generally speaking, once your pet is awake, walking and has their pain under control they can return home.
Make sure your pet is comfortable and in a stress-free environment. Try not to let them move around too much for the first few days and make sure you follow our post-surgery care instructions.
